Happening at the beautiful Nathan Benderson Park, Sarasota Fireworks on the Lake is an annual event you won't want to miss. It's kicking off on July 3 and will include live music from Twinkle & Soul Radio, a Kids Zone, a whole fleet of the best local food trucks, family-friendly activities, and – of course – a fireworks show. Displays start at 9:00 p.m., but don't worry: if you can't attend in person, catch the recording on ABC 7 on July 4!

The Anna Maria Island Privateers Fourth of July Parade is a beloved event that takes place every year on July 4. It's the perfect warm-up for later fireworks and other festivities. The crew all comes together at 10:00 a.m. and will be on the march until 12:30 p.m. with themed floats and other delights. The route runs from Coquina Beach to the Anna Maria City Pier. Just remember, most participants use water, so you might get wet!

North Port July Fourth Firecracker 5K Run is a stupendous way to stretch your legs and support charity at the same time. Now drawing thousands of participants every year, the core of the event is the 5K run from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on July 4. Thanks to sponsorship by North Port High School, there's also the option for a one-mile walk around the track. Can't make it? You can still participate in the Virtual 5K Run!

Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus #7052, the annual Fourth of July Picnic helps to honor this occasion while creating opportunities to give back to the community. It starts out with a patriotic ceremony at 11:30 a.m., followed by the picnic at noon. Barbecued lunch offerings will be available, including hamburgers, corn, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, bratwurst, and an ice cream sundae bar for dessert.
